This from Jack Comins* (Nee: Cominsky):
Our crew #6425 (training number) as we appeared 5 September 1944 when we picked up our new plane #42-5146 in Topeka, Kansas. After each of us had our trial flights we took off for Italy.
Our plane, which was taken from us as soon as we landed, was called 'Surrey With The Fringe On Top'.
*During the war years I used my Birth-Certificate name. I had it legalized after I got home to Jack Saul Comins.
Robert Hays (N) was flying with the Kuhlman crew #52R on 16 October 1944 in 44-41093 when that aircraft was lost. MACR #9192.
