The Exterminator was lost during a training flight at Hammer Field in Fresno, California with Captain Darden in command.  This is a scan of a painting that was done.  There's an article that appeared in the Liberaider about the "Loss of the Exterminator".  Click on this image to see a larger version of this picture.

Incident Report of Exterminator

Huntington Lake Museum

As time allows, we will be posting in-depth segments on every aircraft for which we have information or photos.  In the instances where we have enough detailed information, Aviation artist Jim Caiella is also supplying us with color profiles.

If you would like to write a history of a given aircraft with which you are familiar, it would be gratefully received.

Willow Run Bomber Plant Newsreel - WWII

Henry Ford was determined to mass produce B-24 bombers just as he had done with cars. He built the Willow Run assembly plant and proved it. It was the world's largest building under one roof.

This video will absolutely blow you away - one B-24 every 55 minutes. ADOLF HITLER HAD NO IDEA THE U.S. WAS CAPABLE OF THIS. There is no way he could have even guessed.

For those who live outside of Michigan, Willow Run is near Belleville, Canton and Ypsilanti, Michigan.

It's amazing that one B-24 (built with over 1.225 million parts) came off the assembly line every 55 minute.

Take a few minutes to watch this snapshot of history.
