January 20, 1944 - Aaron Trohman (P), Leonard Roederer (N) and I had so much fun together.
In a letter to his wife dated March 1, 1944, Leonard Roederer wrote -
Another day and, - a rather close one. One engine was knocked out and very bad weather. Was very glad and relieved to see this old dump. Lt. Trohman is really an excellent pilot. We came in alone. Lost the rest of the formation in the clouds. Found out later we lost a plane: 4 men were killed. Pilot, co-pilot, navigator and radio-operator. The navigator was with me at Scotts-bluff, Nebr. Don't think you knew him. His name was William Maxfield (N) on the Blanchard crew #2 of the 764th Squadron.
